The project analyzes different adaptive forest management alternatives at a European scale that allow maintaining and improving biodiversity and other crucial ecosystem services and, in turn, provide materials for a sustainable bioeconomy. To this end, the project develops a permanent forum for the generation and exchange of knowledge and experiences with the key agents of European forestry, including forestry managers, policy makers, environmental organizations, authorities and citizens.

In CLIMBFOREST, valid until 2026, 18 partners from 11 European countries participate. The Valencian participation is represented by the CEAM Foundation, a partner in the project and a platform of social agents made up of regional technicians from the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Furniture and Wood Business Federation of the Valencian Community, Acció Ecologista-Agró, Victoria Laporta Carbonell Foundation and Federació d’Esports de Muntanya i Climbing of the Valencian Community.

During the meeting, on April 19 and 20, several areas of the Valencian Community will be visited to show participants the most innovative forest management techniques that are applied in the Valencian mountains and an exchange of experiences and knowledge will be established with the aim of analyzing the possible adaptation of these techniques in forest management in central and northern Europe to face the expected increase in the risk of disturbances such as forest fires, drought or incidence of pests.
