The Mediterranean Environmental Studies Center (CEAM) has actively contributed to the creation of the Guide to Knowledge for Living in a Changing World, an educational resource promoted by the Valencian Community Environmental Education Center (CEACV) and the Generalitat Valenciana (GVA). This guide aims to provide rigorous and accessible content to address climate change and its implications, especially in contexts like the Mediterranean, where territorial and climate vulnerability requires strategic and educational responses.
The guide combines scientific contributions with educational and pedagogical proposals, and is aimed at teachers, trainers, students, and environmental professionals. Its approach promotes climate literacy, analytical skills, informed decision-making, and adaptation to increasingly complex scenarios.
The CEAM’s participation has been concretized through the contribution of the Forestry Area in the chapter dedicated to contextualizing the territory and the Meteorology and Climatology Area in the chapter focused on weather and climate, where the scientific foundations explaining the climatic evolution of the Mediterranean region are presented, with particular emphasis on extreme phenomena.
Additionally, an inspiring text titled “The Mediterranean in Transformation: Educating to Shape the Future” has been included. It highlights the need to integrate scientific knowledge into educational processes as a key tool for preparing society for current and future climate challenges, particularly in vulnerable areas like the Mediterranean basin.
