The UN has considered the project, to be a reference in the field of mining restoration and has been invited to participate in the next UNCCD COP16: 2 -13 December 2024 I Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The UN has considered one of the projects that gave rise to this Network, the LIFE TECMINE project (https://cinea.ec.europa.eu/featured-projects/life-tecmine_en), to be a reference in the field of mining restoration and has been invited to participate in the next COP 16.

The event will take place from 2 to 13 December in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where ecosystem restoration initiatives, among many other things, will be presented to governments and companies from all over the world, in a common struggle to stop the degradation of land and ecosystems.

Juan Uriol, head of the Forest Management Service of the Generalitat Valenciana, will share the techniques and results of the project and present the RMC Network as an initiative to join forces to improve restoration standards on land affected by mining. Spain, with these projects and with the Network, can be a reference in these matters and we should be proud of it.

The Centre for Environmental Studies of the Mediterranean (CEAM) contributed its experience in ecological restoration of degraded ecosystems to the LIFE project, taking responsibility for the design of forest restoration. Its work included the planning of applied techniques and the careful selection of plant species and communities to be reintroduced in the affected areas, and supervision of the work performed. This holistic approach aims to ensure ecological recovery and long-term sustainability. To learn more about the work carried out, you can access this:
