Atmospheric Chemistry :
The main objectives of this area are:
• Investigation into the
photochemical degradation of atmospheric pollutants and study of the
generated products which present a potential risk for health and environment
• Database development with international projection
• Validation and implementation of photochemical models
• Development and validation of new instrumentation, as well as improvement
of the already existing one
• Exploitation of the EUPHORE smog chambers, for the development of
research projects managed by the Foundation, as well as for other national
and international institutions
Air Pollutant Dynamics Area:
The aims of this area are:
To investigate the relationship
between atmospheric processes and the compounds liberated into the atmosphere by
studying the different mechanisms involved, both physical (meteorology,
dispersion, etc.) and chemical (chemical transformations, with special attention
to photochemical processes); and to establish the connection between emissions
and environmental pollution levels. The studies are oriented towards:
• Generation of knowledge
on processes in the Mediterranean Basin
• Normative compliance
• Design of diagnostic and corrective strategies.
